Philadelphia: D. Rice & A.N. Hart. Very good copy. 1857. 1st. 1/2 leather. Small 4to, 422 pp., Full title reads as follows: "The North American Sylva; or, a Description of the Forest Trees of the United States, Canada, and Nova Scotia, Not Described in the Work of F. Andrew Michaux, and Containing All the Forest Trees Discovered in the Rocky Mountains, the Territory of Oregon, Down to the Shores of the Pacific, and Into the Confines of California, as Well as in Various Parts of the United States." (Three Volumes in Two). Bound in 1/2 brown leather over marbled boards; five raised bands on the spine with blindstamped decoration in the panels; rebacked with the original spines laid-down and with new endpapers; all edges gilt. Plates are mostly clean with some having light foxing. .
