About This Item
London: Gollancz, 1959.. Cloth textured boards. Light foxing to endsheets, jacket slightly tanned at spine and edges, but a very good copy in dust jacket, First UK edition. An excellent association copy, inscribed by Liebling on the front free endsheet to fellow NEW YORKER staff writer Berton Roueché: "For Bert Roueché Joe Liebling March 12, 1959." The recipient, Chicago native Berton Roueché (1910-1994), joined THE NEW YORKER in 1944, after a decade of work for midwestern papers. He specialized in medical topics, particularly epidemiology, and published over twenty books, some on allied topics, others suspense fiction.
