About This Item

London: J. M. Dent & Sons Ltd., 1977-1978. First edition. Hardback. Near Fine. 9.5" by 6.5". Quentin Blake. Two delightfully daft children's books by Margaret Mahy, profusely illustrated by the beloved Quentin Blake. The first editions of these two works in the original pictorial boards. Two children's books from the New Zealand author Margaret Mahy (1936-2012). She won the Carnegie Medal twice, and was one of thirty writers to win the Hans Christian Andersen Medal for her "lasting contribution to children's literature". 'Nonstop Nonsense' (1977) is a collection of humorous and fantastical stories and poems. 'The Great Piratical Rumbustification & The Librarian and the Robbers' contains two witty stories, one concerning a pirate party, and the other concerning the kidnap of a librarian. Both volumes are illustrated throughout by Sir Quentin Blake. Blake is well-known for his charming illustrations for children's books; in particular, his illustrations for Roald Dahl's stories. In the original pictorial boards. Externally very smart, except for a little soiling to the spine of Nonstop Nonsense. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean, apart from the odd spot to the last couple of pages to Nonstop Nonsense. Near Fine
