Published by Secker & Warburg, London: 1949. 8vo. Condition: Good/Good
This first edition of potentially one of the most influential novels of the twentieth century, introducing the popular concept of "Big Brother", is in Good condition. It has been hailed as "quite simply a novel which has changed the world" (Pringle, 100 Best Science Fiction Novels 1). Bound in original light green cloth boards, there is some general staining and slight bumping to the boards and spine, but the binding remains firm and in good condition.
Inside, other than some slight toning and spotting to the edges, the pages are clean and bright and in very smart condition with no signs of damage.
The book is housed in the preferred, rarer, red variant coloured dust jacket. This is also in Good condition, unclipped with the original price of 10s. net to the front inside flap. There is fading to the spine and some creasing and chipping to the edges and spine ends. The back panel has some general rubbing to it, but overall this jacket is in Good condition. This jacket is known for being particularly fragile, so it is rare to find it in as complete condition as this.
Overall, this is a smart example of this important first edition by George Orwell. This book has had a profound effect on the world, introducing concepts that remain extremely relevant in the 21st century. A very collectible book and an important one for any true collector.

New York, Grove Press, 2022, trade paperback, 272 pp, Advance Uncorrected Proof (ARC), New. Straight, tight and clean with no wear or markings in bright, pictorial card covers, no dustjacket as issued. The pieces in this collection, written between 1956 and 1961 and including short fiction, a radio play, and a stunning early novel, offer startling insights into Cohens imagination and creative process.
