The first UK edition of Vladimir Nabokov's criticism of Russian influential author Nikolai Gogol, complete with its unclipped dust wrapper. A literary criticism of literary master Nikolai Gogol by famous novelist Vladimir Nabokov. The first true study of Gogol in English, showing the man and his unique ways of life in a brief biographical sketch, analysing his major works and the literary methods utilised in his work. Nikolai Gogol was a Russian novelist, pioneering in the technique of the grotesque, with huge influence on Russian and world literature. With a frontispiece and a black and white plate. In the original publisher's full cloth binding. Externally lovely with minor shelf wear, minor bumping to the head and tail of the spine, a minor darkening to the spine. The dust wrapper is unclipped and excellent with minor shelf wear only, a hint of spotting to the wraps and a touch of sunning to the spine. Internally, firmly bound. The pages are clean with some browning, as usual with the type of paper used. Very Good Indeed
