Baltimore, MD: Israel Ben Yehudah Fine. Poor. 1907. First Edition. Hardcover. Good reading copy. Maroon cloth boards. Back of the book has a small, taped-in card, print states that states Compliments of Israel Fine, Baltimore, Md. Tissue guard overlay with frontispiece of Israel Fine (1847-1930). Mr. Fine was a businessman, Zionist, and Hebrew poet. He came to the US in 1891, an immigrant from Russia who setttled in Baltimore, MD. Title page stamped in blue "copywrighted by Israel Fine, 1907 Baltimore MD". 197 pages in Hebrew; 50 pages in English, translated from the Hebrew. English portion of the book states that On October 24, 1904, Mr. Israel Fine organized a delegation of prominent Baltimoreans composed of Congressman Frank C. Wachter, Isaac Hamburger, Louis Fine, Ellis Baker and Louis Weis...presented to President Roosevelt a poem written in the Hebrew language; the poem along with a photograph of the President with autograph attached within and reproduced note by the President that states: "To Mr. Israel Fine with the thanks and appreciation of Theodore Roosevelt Oct 27th 1904" Other photos in the book include Dr. Benjamin Szold, Theodore Herzl, Morris Fine, William McKinley, Secretary of State John Hay. Hinges cracked, threads visible. Title page is loose. Index, the back title page with the Compliments card are loose, separated from the book. ; Ex-Library; .
