Condition: The magazine has not been read and the original insert cards are in it. However, the staples are starting to come through the spine and have caused 2 tiny tears—they're so small though, they don't appear on the scan.
Barbara Westman (b 1929-?) is, or was, an American illustrator who was to Boston what Bemelmans was to Paris. She is very well-known for her crowded and meticulously-detailed depictions of Boston neighbourhoods. Although she did extensive work for the Boston Globe, and her work appears in museums and art galleries, and she produced at least ten covers for The New Yorker, she managed to stay entirely out of the limelight, to the extent that no one seems to know if she's still alive.
