About This Item
New York: F-R Publishing Corporation, 1943. Paperback. 4to. Stiff color wrappers. 72pp. Illustrations, line drawings, advertisements (some color). Very good. Lacks rear wrapper and first inner leaf a bit rumpled. Attractive copy (Volume XIX, Number 9) of the famed weekly begun in 1925. Front wrapper art by Will Cotton shows an elderly Navy officer in uniform and colleague leaving a swank soiree, glancing angrily at the derby hat being offered him by a maid at the coat check. Contributors include Alfred Hayes ("The Doctor's Here Now"), A.J. Liebling ("A Reporter at Large") and Grace Flandrau ("All the Modern Conveniences"). Cartoons featured include examples by Garrett Price, George Price, Peter Arno, William Steig and Helen Hokinson.
