About This Item
1929. Ephemera. Otherwise very good condition. An autographed real photo postcard of the New South Wales Hockey team. This tournament took place in Perth in the year of the centenary of Western Australia, 1929. 15 players in uniform surround the coach, in a blazer. Autographs include at least 4 players who went on to play for Australia - Thomas Pearce (1937); George Hunell (1935); Brian Monfries (1937); W. McNeill (1932). Other team members include W. Raynes, B. Ruthven, F. Carroll, E. Abel, C. Pickering & M. Winters. Several signatures are difficult to decipher, one possibly being James Hunell, George's brother (1935-37). The postcard is inscribed on the back "With Best Wishes, George", probably Hunell, and NSW Hockey Team. Unmailed. Slt crack in photo image in the very top of the left corner, otherwise in bright unfaded condition. Lower right corner inscribed "Illustrations (xxx?) Perth"
