New Brunswick: Rutgers University Press, 1958. These stories and sketches, some of the earliest of Faulkner's fiction, opposed to his early concentration on poetry. Published in the New Orleans "Times-Picayune" newspaper.This is a Near Fine copy of the First American Edition. Some of the stories had been published piecemeal, and there was an edition printed in Japan two years prior. Stated First Printing. Gray paper-covered boards with gilt lettering on the spine. Introduction by Carvel Collins. Clean text; 223 pages. Review copy, with a laid-in slip from the publisher. Previous-owner signature on the FFEP. The dustjacket is unclipped; tanned on the reverse and along the edges (which is only noticeable on the top of the flaps when opened. Tiny (1/8") loss to head of spine and some stains visible on the rear panel. Withal, an attractive copy of an important Faulkner title. In an archival plastic protector. Size: 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall. First American Edition.. Hard Cover. Near Fine/Very Good Plus.
