About This Item
London, United Kingdom: Joseph Graham, 1845. Book. Very Good +. Hardcover. 1st Edition. First UK Edition, First Printing, 140 Pp. Title page vignette, frontispiece and 3 engraved plates by W.G. Mason. Original blue cloth blind stamped and with gilt decoration to front end page. A sprinkling of spotting within, tight binding. A very scarce children's book. Interestingly Charlotte Bronte sent a copy of this title to Julia Gaskell in 1853 and inscribed it "To Julia with my love CB". Elizabeth Gaskell was very proud of the attachment between her daughter and Charlotte Bronte, so she added a note in her own hand to that copy, "This book was given to Julia Gaskell by Charlotte Brontë, who lost her heart to the child"..
