Together with Practical Observations and suitable Reflect."..... Long title continues..... Subscriber's edition. The title page is undated, The preface is dated 1791. Pagination: vi, Old Testament 820 pages, Apocrypha 128 pages, New testament 820-1066 pages. Index and Concordance, Interpretation of Names and Directions to the Binder : 1067-1080 pages. List of subscribers [iv]pages, Additional list of subscribers ii pages. The bible is illustrated with 100 copperplate engravings. All present as called for save for the "Elegant Mezzotint Portrait of Mr. Priestley" which may have been an optional extra offered as it is separately at price 2s. 6d. The plates are after Chalmers, Metz, Stothard, Old Masters including Rembrandt and Angelico, and others.Including some maps of the bible regions. The bible has been rebound, with new endpapers, in full brown leather, with raised bands on the spine with a red leather title label lettered in gilt.A hand written note is attached to the front pastedown inscribed thus:"Marie Ann Scarlett/Born July 24th 1832/This book is presented to her, by her/affectionate grandmother/Mary Scarlett/The Villa, Thornbury Oct 20th 1852." The Bible measures 10 X 15.75 X 3.75 inches.There is a little water staining to the first few pages, which is not too obtrusive, overall internally very good throughout with some browning to the page edges.Externally the book is very good indeed,the leather is all clean and unworn, and the binding is very sound and soild. . First Edition. Full Leather. Very Good/No Jacket.
