New London: Samuel Green, Printer. Pamphlet. Poor. no date, presumed 1826. Pamphlet, side stitched. 32 pp., including covers. A monthly almanac, containing the usual information, plus a section of poems and humorous anecdotes, as well as a chronological list of important Revolutionary War battles, a means of making cheap paint from potatoes, a lengthy list of excuses to use when one does not want to accept an invitation of a friend, etc. By Nathan Daboll, a politician and judge from Connecticut. POOR/FAIR condition. First three leaves with pieces torn off from the upper edges, with some loss of text. Moderate to heavy browning, moderate soiling, foxing and staining. Some minor chipping/tearing along the edges. Many corners with large creases. Overall rather worn.

With a hint to curing the pain of bee stings, a chronological table of important events in the US, etc. By Nathan Daboll, a politician and judge from Connecticut. GOOD condition. Moderate scattered staining and some foxing. Heavy creasing to the corners and extremities, with some tearing and minor loss to the first and last page. General toning and minor soiling.

New-London: Printed and Sold by T. Green & Son, 1790. [24]pp, including in-text illustration. Small octavo. Gathered signatures, stitched. Large horizontal tear in the center of first, third, and fifth leaves, the latter two of which are torn from edge to gutter, though not touching illustration and with little impact on legibility. Contemporary ownership inscription on final page. Overall good. The Freebetter series of Connecticut and New- England almanacs began in 1772, and are generally attributed to mathematician and textbook author Nathan Daboll. This almanac features several "humorous" pieces on the subject of women, including "A Receipt for making a bad Husband a good one" (cheerfulness, modesty, personal decency, and compliance are key, although the author notes he has "exhausted the resources of chymistry to discover a preparation that would make a bad wife a good one" without success), and a poem "To the Ladies" discouraging them from "dressing like boys."
