A scarce, late eighteenth century topographical work of England, including public edifices, royal palaces, and other places of interest. The author is not stated, though it was published by Robert Goadby, an eighteenth-century English printer and publisher in Dorset. A new and revised edition of this work, which was originally published in 1774.Volume I contains 93 copper-engraved plates, collated, bound without seven plates. Volume II contains 72 copper-engraved plates, collated, bound without nine plates. Collated from WorldCat.Each volume contains an ink inscription from a previous owner to one of the front free-endpapers: 'Frances Foyle, 1789, A gift of her Cousin, Francis Thomas Hayter'. Containing a 'Neatham Mill Library' stamp to the rear free-endpaper of each volume. Uniformly bound in full mottled calf binding. Externally, some minor shelf wear, and some loss to the spine labels. Title spine label is missing to Volume I. Joints to both volumes are tender. Amateur tape repair to the spine and boards of Volume I, and an ink mark to the rear board of Volume I. Previous owner's ink inscription to one of the front free-endpapers of each volume. Containing a 'Neatham Mill Library' stamp to the rear free-endpaper of each volume. Internally, both volumes generally firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean, especially considering the age of the work. Good
