About This Item
Glendale, California: Arthur H. Clark Company, 1936. Hardcover. Fine. This printing is one of the 250 copies printed on Covenant rag paper each numbered and signed by the author. The copy here is number 65 signed in blue pen by the author Effie Mona Mack. The cover has been replaced by a sturdy new brown cover with the title, author and publisher in gilt over black. This was done by a English professionally trained book binder. Top of page edges are gilt and side and bottom edges are deckled. 495 pages, illustrations, maps, bibliography and index. Tissue guard in front of title page is intact and not torn with several light brown spots. Book itself is protected with a clear archival quality cover. Not only is this book one of the best and most accurate histories of Nevada ever published, it is a valuable contribution to the history of the entire Far West. The research, almost entirely based on original documents, begins with early explorers and ends with the decline of the Comstock in 1878, despite the shorter scope of the title. Indispensable to any Nevada collection, according to Stan Paher. A very nice copy; available for immediate shipment, carefully packed in a sturdy box!
