Light bumping to corners and crushing to spine ends. Book has noticeable forward lean. Boards are slightly bowed.

London and Glasgow: Blackie & Son Limited Early reprint. Light brown cloth, lettered in darker brown, top edge coloured brown. Four black & white illustrations by J. Dewar Mills. Girl's name in ink on front pastedown, inscription from 'Grandpa & Grandma' at top of contents page. A nice old 'thick' edition, clean and firmly bound, corner tips bumped but no fraying or tears to cloth, and hinges perfectly sound. About Very Good condition. In a Good+ pictorial dustjacket, featuring two girls in school uniform on front cover, one holding up a dress and the other sorting through pictures and papers. Another girl on spine is painting or drawing. Jacket has a large chip of about two inches depth and width missing at heel of spine, and wear at corner tips: it is now protected in a clear mylar sleeve. An uncommon early issue of this girls' school classic.. Illus. by J. Dewar Mills.
