Slight wear to corners of cloth. Tiny nip to edge of a couple of pages. Green cloth with black lettering. Short biography by W. H. Kennett. The collection of etters in this book was bought by me, in my capacity as Chairman of The English Electric Company Limited, from Mrs. Mildred Wells, a first cousin of Lady Siemens. The volume contains over 250 letters, the majority of which were written to Sir Charles William Siemens, from the year 1862 until his death in 1883, by celebrated scientists, artists, statesmen, and noblemen of the period. The Siemens name is closely associated with The English Electrict Company in that the Works at Stafford was established by Siemens Brothers, of Woolwich, between the years 1901 and 1903, and was acquired by The English Electric Company in 1919.
