FIRST ENGLISH EDITION Biography of Will Adams [Anjin-San as named by the Japanese] who was shipwrecked on the coast of Japan in the early 17th century. He taught the Shogun Ieyasu about navigation & Western ship building. * He was designated a 'Samurai' by the Shogun, allowed to carry two swords, and given great respect as an advisor. Chapers covers 1600, Samurai, 1613 and after. * An early secondary source, for the English pilot. Adams was the main character for the Richard Chamberlain role in the celebrated film series SHOGUN. * Nicely done, likely the reference work for the film story. * .
