About This Item
New York, NY: Grove Press, 1987. Book. New. Quarter Cloth. First Edition. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. New York, NY, Grove Press, 1987. First edition. 8vo. Black quarter cloth over tan boards with white lettering embossed on spine, 153 pp. It begins in Nebraska in the 1950's, when Craig McMullen is twelve years old. Sent out one day to buy a loaf of bread, Craig is hit by a truck and loses his leg. Craig watches his father-less family resume their busy lives, and he gets older; he is the man of the house and not quite a man. This is a story of coming of age, anger and despair and finally, the resilience of the human spirit. Beautifully written! Dust jacket is sunned at outer edges, otherwise, this book is in pristine condition. New in a new dust jacket, protected by a mylar cover..
