London: A&C Black, 1920 The Maxwell brothers were both serving officers in the RNVR. Donald, the elder, was a well known naval artist before the war and after service in the North Sea was appointed in 1918 Admiralty Official Artist travelling to Mesopotamia and Palestine to do pictures for the Imperial War Museum. Gordon served in the Dover Patrol and was mentioned in despatches at the Zeebrugge Raid in April 1918 when he was in coimmand of H.M. M.L..314. 203pp with 16 colour and 16 black and white full page plates. Recently rebound in dark blue three quarter Goatskin with raised bands, contrasting title panel and marbled boards. A fine copy.
