First printing Very near fine in decorated blue cloth covered boards with a University of Maine Library book plate on the verso of the first free end paper. Without a dust jacket as issued. Contains a forward by Lyndon B. Johnson and an introduction by Rear Admiral Ernest Mcneill Eller, USN (Ret.) Despite the library book plate there are no other signs, stamps or notes indicating that this was a library copy. 1463 pages containing an index, appendices, text, illustrations, and photographs.
