London: Chatto and Windus, 1883. Hardcover. Good. vi, [2], 242, [2], 32 p.; 20 cm. Light grey cloth with gilt-stamped spine title and brown illustrations on spine and both boards. Black endpapers. Publisher's catalog from March 1883 on final 32 pages. Gift inscription from Christmas 1886 on title page verso. A charming work by English nature writer Richard Jefferies (1848-1887), transporting the reader to the natural world that surrounded London in the late 19th century, most or all of which is long gone today. In Good Condition: slightly cocked; spine is sunned; edges are rubbed; cover is lightly soiled; hinges are weak; pages are clean and tight.
