Edinburgh: W.H. Lizars, 1835. SIX VOLUMES UNIFORMLY BOUND. These are Volumes 1-6 of the Ichthyology series. They date from 1835-1843. Spines are lettered in gilt. Volumes 4 and 6 have 1 and II in ink on spine (The two volumes of the British Fishes). Volume 5 has been rebacked with the original spine laid-down. There are a total of 202 plates in the six volumes, including a frontispiece and vignette title-page in each volume. Title-page vignette in Volume 1 is hand-colored, others are not. We have collated the fish plates as complete, and ALL ARE HAND-COLOURED! Volume 1 is "The Perch Family" by William Jardine; Volume II is "Treating of the Nature, Structure, and Economical Uses of Fishes", byJ.S. Bushnan; Volumes III and V are "Fishes of Guiana" by Robert Schomburgk; Volumes IV and VI are"British Fishes" by Robert Hamilton. All have the previous owner's signature at top of front free endpaper. A complete set of the fishes. All plates are found at the end of the text except for Volume 1 where they are scattered through the text material. Plates are clean with vivid coloration, some with tissue-guards.
