Oblong quarto. xvi, 168pp. Illustrated throughout in color and black & white including photographs, reproductions, facsimiles. Notes, bibliography, list of picture books by author, list of picture books by artist, index. Gray-green cloth. A very fine copy with pictorial dust jacket. A good rundown of the children's books of the twentieth century illustrated by Native American artists. The book documents four decades of these storybooks for Pueblo, Hopi, Navajo and Sioux children. These works showcased many of the important emerging Indian artists of the period including Andrewe Tsinajinnie, Hoke Denetsosie, Velino Herrera and many others..

About Argonaut Book Shop

The Argonaut Book Shop was founded in 1941 in the middle of the financial district of San Francisco. The Argonaut was a founding member of the Antiquarian Booksellers\' Association of America and has been a member in good standing ever since. The Shop is now located just three blocks from Union Square in downtown San Francisco and is open six days a week. Parking facilities include ample street space and a parking garage close by.
