Hall, Washington: Government Printing Office, 1879. Heavy quarto, first edition, pp. l, 644, green buckram library binding, maps including large folding map attached to rear pastedown, heliotypes and other illustrated plates, library markings to preliminaries. Largely based on Hall's own manuscripts. In addition to exploration, the purpose of the voyage was to solve the mystery of the disappeared Franklin expedition -- to no avail. However, Hall was able to provide a lot of information about Inuit living. Condition of this book: Damp stain throughout, mostly in upper margin. Foxing, mostly to preliminary leaves. Rear map has some splits along folds, with no loss. Very sound in library binding. Size: Quarto. Text body is clean, and free from previous owner annotation, underlining and highlighting.
