London: Bickers & Son, 1897. Leather bound. Good +. Octavo. Fine leather binding. [2], x, 408 pages, [2]. Illustrated with 10 plates. Color folding map of Spain and Portugal located in back. Polished moroccan reddish brown leather hardcover. Raised bands, gilt decorations and leather title label on the spine. Gilt borders and gilt decorated board edges. Marbled end papers. All edges are marbled. This is most likely a presentation or gift binding to a student with gilt illustrated armorial seal and gilt lettered "Rugby School" on the front board. An illustrated label on the front paste down with Latin words and hand written name of A. C. Rowden at the top and another name at bottom (not legible) on the pasted down label. Also on the label is the hand written course "Humanities." Rubbed spots to the leather on the front cover. Light rubs to the leather joints and raised bands. Interior text in very good condition.
