First published 1871; this is the 88th volume in the Lakeside Classic series issued 1990. Autobiography/memoir of Fanny Kelly (1845 - 1904) who was but 17 years old when taken captive, along with a number of other women and children, by the Ogalla Sioux in 1864. She was prisoner for five months until released to Gen. Sully's troops. For this edition, spelling and grammatical errors were corrected, and chapter titles were added. Editors Clark and Mary Lee Spence's Prologue provides a historical perspective, and their Epilogue adds interesting information about Fanny's life after captivity. Illustrated with maps and photos.
