About This Item

[Boston]: [n.p.], [1825]. First edition. Pamphlet. Very Good. 5 3/4 x 9 1/4 inches. 108 pages. Page edges uncut and slightly chipped. First and last pages lightly soiled. Otherwise pages bright and clean and free from marking, soiling and staining. A few pages with closed tears and no loss of text. Last page chipped with marginal loss. String bound without wraps as issued. Jarvis was the first historiographer of the Episcopal Church. This is a rare copy of his privately printed account of his resignation as rector of St. Paul's Church over the issue of pew rents. It was an important precedent on the handling of disagreements between the vestry and clergy.
