Green blind stamped impress decoration with a gilt globe to the centre of the front board. Beautiful gilt sailing ship illus. tot he tiled spine. Matching rear board. Neat gift ink inscription date 1866 from Westport School, Grimsby prize to the front free end-paper. Unfaded binding with a slightly rubbed head to the spine. Very clean and crisp contents. All edges gilt. The first 50 pages by Alexander Von Humbolt deal with physical and geognostic suggestions. The first volume covers preparations for the voyage of the Frigate 'Novara' as well as visits to Gibralter, Madeira, Brazil, South Africa, Indian Ocean islands. Ceylon and the Bay of Bengal.. 1st English Edition. Hardback. Fine. large 8vo.
