Philadelphia: John Campbell, 1865. Fifth Thousand. . Hardcover in full green pebbled cloth. Good. Thin octavo (standard size). SIGNED and inscribed by the author on the half title. Some wear to edges and corners of boards. Cloth worn through at bottom corners. Corners and head and heel of spine bumped. Longer tear (2 in) at foredge on p. 57/58. Smaller tears at foredges of p. 107/08 and 109/110. Slight foxing throughout. 128 p. w/ map, index. Patterson, a War of 1812 veteran, puts forth his poor defense of his actions that cost the Union the Shenandoah Valley in 1861.
