Fairfield WA: Ye Galleon Press, 1967. First Thus. Hardcover. Very Good. 8vo. Pp. [xii,] 166, 143-161. Illustrated with engravings and document facsimiles. With Meany's "Later Life of John R. Jewitt." Beige cloth, titles and illustration stamped in gilt on the spine, illustration stamped in gilt on the cover, illustrated endpapers, title page in red and black. Hand numbered 10 of an edition of 1522. Errata pasted to the final page of the introduction. Light stains to back cover, spine ends gently pushed, cut edges a trifle age toned. Publisher Glen Adams' introduction with facsimile of the c. 1815 edition, written by Alsop based on interviews with Jewitt and his 1807 Journal. For a thorough explication of the transcription of Jewitt's journal into the narrative, artfully constructed by Richard Alsop, please see "Richard Alsop 'A Hartford Wit'" by Karl P. Harrington (Middletown, CT: Mattabesett Press, 1939).
