About This Item

Reading: Osprey, 1973 0850451124. First Edition. Hardback in red boards. VG/VG. Over 6" by 9.5". DW is price-clipped but otherwise intact and has some slight reinforcement on the obverse side. Book has some slight bumping at the edges but otherwise this is a very clean copy in VG condition. 203 pages including detailed military appendices, a select bibliography and notes on the 16 colour plates which superbly illustrate the variety of costumes worn by the marshals and their staff. Brigadier Peter Young presents factual accounts of the marshals' careers and their personal lives. The reader is invited to decide from the facts whether or not Napoleon created commanders worthy of his military genius. Among the illustrations is an authentic portrait of every marshal. .
