About This Item

W. J. Widdleton. Very Good. 1862. Hardcover. Brown quarter-bound leather, 5 raised bands. With marbled boards, pastedowns, end papers, and all page ends. Marbling is somewhat faded on front cover and page ends, less so on back cover, and is bright and unfaded on endpapers. Leather is rubbed and a little worn at extremities, lacking the bottom 1/8 - inch of spine. Front hinge is cracked, otherwise binding is tight. Contents are excellent; pages are clean and crisp, book appears unread. . Frontispiece is an etching of St Helena and a sailing ship; tissue guard is intact. NOTE: This is volume II only of a two volume set, covering May 1817 to August 1819. Despite its defects, a handsome copy. . 8vo - 8" to 9" tall. 322 pages. J4 .
