SIGNED AND DATED (1894) BY EMILY WARREN ROEBLING, THE WIDOW OF WASHINGTON ROEBLING [THE CHIEF ENGINEER DURING THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE BROOKLYN BRIDGE] AND DAUGHTER-IN-LAW OF JOHN A. ROEBLING [WHO DESIGNED THE BROOKLYN BRIDGE]. AS ALL REPORTS INDICATE, EMILY ROEBLING WAS HERSELF VERY INSTRUMENTAL IN THE COMPLETION OF THE BUILDING OF THE BRIDGE AFTER HER HUSBAND'S UNTIMELY DEATH. A solid copy to boot of the 1860 1st edition. Tight and VG in its chocolate-brown boards, with decorative blindstamping to the panels. Light wear along the outer hinges and at the spine ends, very light soiling to the panels and light foxing to the endpapers. A number of the pages dog-earred as well. Thick octavo, 480 pgs.
