New York: Grosset & Dunlap, 1940 No. 13 of the Judy Bolton series. Dale Meredith, has given birth to Judy Irene Meredith in New York City. At Dale's request, Judy travels to the city to help the Merediths find a good nursemaid. Irene shares a room at the hospital with Jane Merrit, who also has a new baby girl. In the confusion of checking out of the hospital, the babies somehow become switched without anybody noticing. Refers to The Spirit of Fog Island on front flap of DJ, refers to The Black Cat's Clue opposite the table of contents, refers to the Cherry Ames Mountaineer Nurse on back of DJ. Condition notes: (vii), 216 numbered pp; HB w/DJ. Pages: clean, bright, tight, brown topstain, decorative cream/brown eps, frontis; sm stain to preliminaries. Cover: rose tweed, black artwork and titles front, black titles spine; v lt shelfwear, extrems barely worn. DJ: clipped in Brodart, color artwork and green/white titles front, white spine with black titles; modest edge/shelfwear w/ loss to head that affects the words The Name, to very small closed tears to front top edge. A nice copy.
