Hand-colored lithograph of approximately 11 x 18 inches (28 x 45.5 cm) matted to 16 1/8 x 20 inches (41 x 51cm) with a window of 10 x 15 inches (25.5 x 38 cm). From James Otto Lewis' 1835 Aboriginal Portfolio. The Portfolio was the first published collection of portraits of indigenous North Americans, preceeding McKenney and Hall's Indian Tribes of North America (to which Lewis also contributed). Like McKenney, Lewis' original paintings perished in the 1865 Smithsonian fire. See image for condition. Scarce.
