The first edition of Bertrand Russell's account of the development of his philosophical beliefs throughout his life. The first edition, first impression of this autobiographical work of philosophical theory from philosopher, logician, and public intellectual Bertrand Russell. In the publisher's original unclipped dust wrapper.Within this work, Russell summarizes his philosophical beliefs and explains how they changed during his life. In an explanatory chapter, he endeavours to remove misconceptions of and objections to his theories. With the contemporary inscription of Frances Partridge to head of front free endpaper. Partridge was an English writer closely connected to the Bloomsbury Group. She socialised with many of the intellectuals and literary figures of her day. She wrote about Russell in a 2001 Telegraph article, choosing 'The Problems of Philosophy' as her favourite work of philosophy. In the publisher's original cloth binding, with price unclipped dust wrapper. Light shelf wear and fading to back strip tail, otherwise externally excellent. Former owner's inscription to head of front free endpaper. Sunning to back strip, with chipping and minor loss to back strip head and tail. Light rubbing to front wrap, with perimeters of rear wrap age toned. Small loss to head of rear wrap. Spotting and contemporary notations to wrap reverse. Internally, firmly bound.
