Austin: State House Press, 1992. First Edition. First Printing Fine in red cloth covered boards with gilt text stamping on the spine. A small quarto measuring 10 by 7 inches with old glue stains on the fixed end sheets where the jacket flap were once fixed. In a fine, unclipped (no price) dust jacket with corresponding glue stains on the verso ends of the flaps. The story of Michener's efforts to find his lost manuscript for the book Mexico which was written in the 1960's and his search to develop self-confidence. 165 pages of text.
Synopsis
My Lost Mexico, by American author James A. Michener, is a nonfiction account of Michener's endeavor to write a big novel about Mexico, in the grand style of his other popular novels, like Hawaii. Michener relates the long journey of a novel which he had begun writing early in his career, but had abandoned, and the manuscript had ultimately been lost. Its discovery 30 years later led to the 1992 bestseller Mexico. My Lost Mexico also includes the never-before published novella The Texas Girls.
