About This Item
NY: Sheldon & Company. - Tape repairs to front wrapper and across the bottom of spine. A small chip out of cover bottom margin. Old ink name on front top cover margin. The 1st installment and appearance of "My Life on the Plains" - 10 and 1/4 pages long. These single issues were printed before the bound volumes of Galaxy and contain the original covers and paginations. Being a monthly periodical they were distributed to the public. With this issue Custer's reports from the field became quite popular in New York and elsewhere. A decent enough copy that would look great in a clamshell case and it deserves one. I quote the first line; "There are two classes of people who are always eager to get up an Indian war - the army and our frontiersmen." A quote that Custer borrowed. This issue of Galaxy is extremely rare and desireable. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall . Good or a Little Better. Single Magazine. Original Magazine.. 1872.
