About This Item

Garden City: Doubleday & Company, Inc., 1963., 1963. First edition. First edition. Former owner's small inked name and date on front free fly leaf, else a fine copy in dust jacket with orange and red inks lightly faded on the spine and a hint of rubbing to the bottom fore-corners. An unaccountably scarce book and the basis for the hit movie, BULLITT, filmed in 1968, directed by Peter Yates, and starring Steve McQueen as Detective Frank Bullitt, Robert Vaughn, Jacqueline Bisset, Don Gordon, Robert Duvall, Simon Oakland, and Norman Fell. Robert L. Pike is a pseudonym of author Robert L. Fish. Included with this copy is an as new, un-opened "Blue Ray" DVD movie disc of the 1968 hit movie BULLITT, that starred Steve McQueen. Leonard Malkin's Movie Guide says "Now-classic car chase, one of the screen's all-time best." When gangster kingpin Johnny Rossi comes to New York to testify against his crime syndicate associates, it falls to Lieutenant Clancy to keep the government's star witness safe. Why Rossi has come to New York from California, and what is so crucial about his testimony are questions only District Attorney Chalmers seems to know. When guarding Rossi becomes a more difficult and perplexing task than Clancy had anticipated, he begins to uncover something much more sinister. An exceptional copy of a scarce title.
