London: Longman, Brown, Green, & Longmans, 1846. Fourth edition. Twelvemo. 220 pp; illustrated with coat of arms. Blind-stamped full leather with four raised bands on spine with five blind-stamped ornament device or gilt-stamped lettering; beveled edges, white inlay lettered panels to boards on which is hand-printed the title (front) and dates of the diary entries: 1635-1648 (rear); all edges gilt gauffered in checkerboard pattern; marbled endpapers. VG, front joint moderately worn, rear joint less so; corners & spine ends lightly rubbed; paper insets are soiled and lightly worn. The present work is a fiction in the guise of an historical document. First published anonymously in 1844; a second and a third edition followed in 1845, and a New York edition in the same year.. Hard Cover. Very Good.
