N.p.: N.p., 1939. Revised Final script for the 1939 film. Presentation copy belonging to Jerry Wald, with his name on the front board.

Jerry Wald is best remembered for his long and successful association with Warner Brothers as both a screenwriter and producer of a number of notable films, including "Mildred Pierce" (1945), "Humoresque" (1946), "Key Largo" (1948), and "Flamingo Road" (1949). In the 1950s he moved to Twentieth Century-Fox, and was the producer there for "An Affair to Remember" (1957), "Peyton Place" (1957), and "Sons and Lovers" (1960).

Controversial among the political American establishment at the time for its (accurate, then and now) depiction of the Senate as a group of dysfunctional, shallow egotists, the film was also banned in fascist countries Germany, Italy, Spain, and the USSR, and, later, Nazi-occupied France.

Set and shot on location in Washington DC.

Beige cloth-covered boards, with the film's title on the spine and front board, and Wald's name on the bottom right corner of the front board. Title page present, dated April 1, 1939, with credit for screenwriter Sidney Buchman. 194 leaves, with last page of text numbered 192. Mimeograph duplication, rectos only, with yellow revision pages throughout the first 40 leaves of the script, dated variously between April 5 and 13, 1939. Pages Near Fine, binding Very Good, moderately foxed.
