New York, NY: Frederick A. Stokes. First American Edition. Hardcover. Good. First American edition, n.d. (circa 1920). Volumes II (1857-1874), and IV (1892-1914), of 4. Good minus. Violet cloth with gilt decorated spine and board, of slightly different tones of blue and purple. worn at heads and edges, light sunning to spines. Punch was a British weekly magazine of humour and satire established in 1841 by Henry Mayhew and wood-engraver Ebenezer Landells. It helped to coin the term "cartoon" in its modern sense as a humorous illustration. The author of these volumes, Charles Larcom Graves, was an Irish-born editor and author (1856-1944), a political satirist and a member of the editorial staff of Punch. He is Robert Graves's uncle.
