Numerous figures engraved on wood cut and in full page, superb chromolithography. Top page edges gilt. The authors are: M. Lassus, M. Prosper Mérimée, Jean du Seigneur, Alfred Michiels, Ernest Breton, M. Duchesne, M Champollion-Figeac, Paul Lacroix. Paginated by chapters. Gilt title and decoration to spine, four bands. Gilt to top page edges. Pastedown hinges cracked, front hinge brocken. Bookplate of Peter Carrington Peirce on front pastedown. Wear to top/tail and joints of spine, and cover corners. A little light foxing on title page and occasional foxing in the text and on some illustrations. A hint of browning to page margins..
