Pages are bright and clear with light tanning and foxing to text block edges. Pencil inscription to title page and reverse of front cover, with a few small nicks along text block edge. Crinkling to lower text block corner. Cover has light shelf-wear to edges and surfaces, with slight curling to corners. Mild crushing to spine ends, with visible reading creases to spine and corner. Light tanning to spine and edges with a small split to spine end. Book has a subtle forward lean.

Bright and clean pages with light tanning to text block edges. Binding is firm throughout with minor thumb-marking. Boards have light edge wear with minor corner bumping. Mild crushing to spine, with occasional markings overall. Unclipped jacket has light edgewear with tears and creasing. Notable foxing. Mild water staining present. Moderate sunning to spine. Notable rubbing and marking all over. Small stain to rear.

Text is illustrated with numerous black and white photographs. Blue coloured boards with gilt writing on spine. The corners of book are bumped and rubbed and shelf wear is evident to the bottom edges of book. Head and heel of spine are bumped and soft. The front and back panel have mildew residue. The internal pages are brown. Photographic/illustrated dustwrapper, photograph of a New Guinea Highlander overlaying an illustrated painting of New Guinea village, black & white writing front panel and red and black on spine. Corners of the dustwrapper are rubbed, as are the fore edges. Chipping has occurred to the top and bottom dustwrapper edge, particularly on spine.
