About This Item
Indianapolis: The Bobbs-Merrill Company Publishers, 1905. Hardcover. Near Fine. Hardcover, tan cloth boards with red and green patterns to all three panels, title box on front cover with "The Pocket Books" series above title, 7-1/2" tall, 189 pp. plus publisher's ads. Near fine with tips and spine ends slightly turned in. A series binding. The weave pattern of the cover makes for a very modernist design, perhaps unintentionally. At the time, most other publishers were designing floral or pictorial bindings; the simplicity, straight lines, and implied practicality are quite the contrast to most contemporary series bindings.
