First hardcover edition, with dust jacket, published by Allen & Unwin, 1965. This is the UK first edition. Collection of essays and stories from the leading writers of the time including; Ian Fleming, Aldous Huxley, Henry Miller, Laurance Pomeroy, C.S. Rolls, W.S. Bentley and several others. Edited by Richard Hough, a total of 23 essays.
292 pages, B&W photos through the text, 6-1/2" X 9-1/2". The dust jacket has been price clipped at the lower corner of the front flap. Jacket has edge wear, minor chipping to the head of the spine panel, sun tanning on the back panel to the top 1" and to a 3/4" vertical strip on the left side. Jacket has been protected with a clear, removable cover. Very sturdy cloth covered hard cover boards, with the title debossed on the front cover, and printed in gold on the spine. All lettering and design elements of the cover boards are intact and legible. Cover boards are flat, the corners are not bumped or worn, no edge wear. No former ownership marks, no writing on the text pages. Edges of the text block show age tanning, fading to the top edge top-stain. Binding is tight and square. This is not a remainder, not a library discard copy. Photos attached are of the copy we have in our inventory.
