He went to London to study and sing, where he became one of the leading bass baritone at the Royal Opera House and the first Maori singer with an international reputation, as well as acting in film and on stage. He was a talented Maori Carver with his works in New Zealand house especially the Pouihi post from 5 large Totara logs in the Entrance.. His daughter is actor, comedienne and singer Rima Te Wiata. CONDITION Burgundy bds with bright Gold title (clean and unworn with sharp cnrs) Eps illus with his carving design sketches, 307 pages with b/w photo plates and sketch illus.
