(B&W photographs, endpaper maps) INSCRIBED and SIGNED by the author on the second front endpaper: "March 28th 1960 / To Florence Henderson -- / With warmest regards / Harrison E. Salisbury." "Barred from Russia for five years, the author -- Russian-speaking, Pulitzer Prize-winning reporter for the New York Times -- returned to a 'new' Russia in 1959. Based in Moscow, he traveled 30,000 iles, including a trip to Outer Mongolia and two trips to Siberia. His personal story not only reveals Russia and the Russians of today; it also deals with many riddles of the future, including Russia's relationship with China, and provides a close-up of Khrushchev."
