1556. Florenz, Laurenzo Torentini, 1556. Folio. 19 S., 358 S., (26) S. Mit Holzschnitt-Titel und ganzseitiger Holzschnittdruckermarke auf dem letzten Blatt. Halbleinwandeinband des 19. Jahrhunderts mit goldgeprägtem Rückentitel. Durling 264. – HOH 277. – Zweite Auflage. Erstmals 1550 unter dem Titel «Varia opere de re medica» gedruckt. Argenterio (1513–1572) aus dem Piemont stammend, lernte in Lyon und Antwerpen bevor er nach Italien zurückkehrte. Er war einer der grössten Gegner Galens. Die vorliegende Schrift ist eine philosophisch-rhetorische Abhandlung. Er galt als einer der wichtigsten Theoretiker seiner Zeit. Nach Berichten seiner Zeitgenossen war er ein schlechter Praktiker. – Titel und letztes Blatt leicht gebräunt und fleckig. Papier mit vereinzelten schwachen Stockflecken. Seite 155–186 mit Wurmspuren im Innenfalz. – Breitrandig.
